I read something once that has caused me to think: Power is not in wealth, but in control.
This world would have us think that money is everything. Money brings power, money buys whatever you could possibly want, money places you above others. Money makes the world go round. Money is what Satan uses for power.
We are “natural (wo)men”. We chose to come to this earth to receive a body and, unfortunately, the sins that come attached. What we forget is that this earth life is all about our learning and mastering control, sacrifice, giving of ourselves, and rising above what is offered by Satan. The true power is in our hands…when WE are in control.
Here’s another quote I think about: Money is worthless before a man who refuses to be bought.
One of my favorite scriptures is 1 Cor 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” My Savior purchased me long ago. How could I ever sell my soul to anyone else? Satan cannot buy me; therefore, I stand triumphant in the power already made available to me.
We are well aware of Hollywood’s bad reputation and influence. But be honest, when you see a new, rising star, don’t you still feel shock when you hear about their exploits? Don’t you just hope someone will hold on to some kind of value? Don’t you yearn to admire someone who didn’t “sell out”?
The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us what we must do. WE KNOW! Our attitudes must be full of the spirit. Our actions must be full of righteousness. We belong to God and He is waiting to welcome us back. Let us check ourselves now, daily, that we may stand tall before our purchaser, our owner, our king.
I am guilty of forgetting who I am, what I am about, where I want to go, and sometimes why I chose this way, in the first place. My reminders are plentiful, and they keep urging me on. When I do remember who I am, what I am about, where I’m going, and why I chose God, I feel His power upon me. I will not sell out to Satan. I will…I must…stand strong to my standards, principles, and values.
