GOAL #3 BUILD UP OUR SISTERHOOD AND MAKE OURSELVES KNOWN IN THE WORLD

I’ve selected what I think are the greatest concerns we, as women of the church, should be focusing on.  I realize this is a bold statement and I welcome any additions to this list.  But if you agree with me, please comment and share your experiences.  I am posting them as separate goals, and they are not in any particular order, because I feel they are all equally important.

GOAL #3  BUILD UP OUR SISTERHOOD AND MAKE OURSELVES KNOWN IN THE WORLD

Often, when lessons are given in Relief Society discussion centers around how the individual isn’t perfect, but must learn to overcome.  While this is very true, I believe there is a much bigger vision we must look at.

We are the largest Sisterhood living on the planet earth.  We are a force to be reckoned with.  We have the truth on our side and when we listen and follow our leaders, we can see into the future to bless lives, prevent horrors, and save those who would be saved.  I don’t think we have reached our potential.

There are pockets of sisters doing amazing work.  There are individuals we look up to.  The “other woman” is out there being perfect in her “perfect” situation.  We need to understand that we are “other women”, we can create our own “perfect” situation when we all play on the same team.

Women are often petty.  We tend to micromanage.  Every ward has at least one woman who “does it all” and the rest of us let her.  Between wanting to run the show and feeling apathy, women are all over the map.  But there is no sense of unity.

We have absolutely no reason to compete with one another, for we are a Sisterhood.  We are on the same team with the same goals in mind.  Our goals are centered on Christ and accomplishing His work.   Just think if we were to make ourselves known to the world.  We could stand unquestioningly for Modesty, Virtue, Righteousness, Honesty, etc.

As a Sisterhood, we can feel power from each other to strengthen our marriages, our families, ourselves, our sisters, our fellowman.  As a Sisterhood, we know we are never alone; we belong to something much bigger that expects and demands my unique help and involvement to succeed.

The Relief Society is not just a Sunday lesson.  It is a mighty Sisterhood, organized to perform good works for me, for my loved ones, for the world.
