MELECH in Hebrew is KING and looks like this:
םלך
The first character is a Mem, ם , and symbolically represents the world.
The second character is a Lamed, ל , and symbolically represents the staff or rod, even the rod of iron, which is the word of God. The most important words of God are the covenants we make with Him.
The third character is a Chaf or Kaf, ך , and symbolically represents an open or cupped shaped hand.
ZEDEK is RIGHTEOUSNESS in Hebrew. Hence, Melchizedek means King of Righteousness.
Let’s look at RIGHTEOUSNESS in Hebrew:
צדק
The first letter is a Tzadi, צ , which means righteous, the literal meaning is fish hook or to hunt.
The second letter is a Dalet, ד , which means man.
The third letter is a Qoph or Qof, ק , which means holy or sacred, or more specifically a holy or sacred man.
Therefore, the symbolic meaning of RIGHTEOUSNESS is the formula of how an ordinary man can become a holy man by becoming a fisher or hunter of men, as Christ stated in the New Testament.
The word QUEEN in Hebrew is very similar to the word KING and is pronounced MALKAH / MALCAH and looks like this:
םלכה
The first three characters are the same as KING.
The fourth character is a Hey, ה , and symbolically represents many things such as name, Spirit, breath, whisper, even Christ himself.
The word QUEEN in Hebrew is like KING with one additional letter at the end, the fourth letter. Hence, KING and QUEEN in Hebrew are not describing earthly kings and queens that we immediately think about, but the type of KINGS and QUEENS the Lord wants us to become as we leave the world, that we are born into, and then go make and keep the covenants in His Holy Temple. With the last Hey at the end, the sisters in the Church have an added blessing of being with the Spirit, even Christ himself.
I love love all your old posts on the Hebrew language! I would love to learn even more but I have no idea where to begin. Does your husband have a few suggestions on websites or books to dive deeper into the Hebrew language and meanings?
Thank you. I’m so glad you enjoy them. Funny story: We took some very casual lessons in Hebrew from a Jewish friend. As we worked through our prayer book manual, we began to see how simple Hebrew letters and words literally had gospel symbolism. Our friend didn’t understand what we were beginning to see, but clearly the gospel, and Jesus Christ, is in the very alphabet of the Hebrew language, if we have eyes to see.
I’m sorry to say I have no specific direction to give you, but my advice is to simply keep your eyes open and look for the connections.
