I’m Back!

I’m home from my mission. I’ve caught up with three new grandchildren, and have been getting to know all (15!!) of them all over again. I’m working in the temple, which is incredibly satisfying. And, now, I think I’m ready to get back to this website.

I started this blog in 2008. My objective was to share the history, purpose, and destiny of the Relief Society. Over the years, I’ve really focused on the history of the Relief Society, because I feel strongly that we need to know where we came from in order to know where, and why, we’re going–hopefully forward. I’ve covered the purpose of the Relief Society, and yes, in my historical research I have learned that we have a distinct and specific purpose that only righteous daughters of God are remotely interested in fulfilling. You can read through any of my older posts (all categorized) to the right of this page. I’ve updated my quotes page and will do my best to keep adding. And wow! Do these quotes pack a punch!!

The world will never teach us, or our children, what the Lord needs done in this, the final days before the coming of the Lord. We are the gatherers. We are the teachers. We are the befrienders. We are the leaders that God has called for such a time as this.

I’ve also used my site to post my thoughts on past General Conference addresses. I’m part of a group called General Conference Odyssey, which was started in 2015, and I will be rejoining these writers as we continue reading through all past conference talks and reporting on the highlights. Just the other day, my husband and I were talking to a fairly new convert who wondered why the scriptures just seem to end. She innocently asked, “Isn’t anyone keeping records anymore of God’s words?” A great discussion ensued about our modern scriptures: General Conference talks. God has not left us to fend for ourselves! We have living prophets who speak the words of Christ to us every six months (sometimes even more often!) and everything is recorded and available on our phones. How’s that for never being forgotten in this cold, cruel world?

The church is guiding us to prepare for the Lord’s coming, and this is my small effort.

We are undeniably experiencing a low point in American history (no, I don’t want to get political), I am feeling more and more an urgency to follow ALL the words of our prophets. I need to get up and move, do something, act, accomplish, and see the fruits of my labors as I prepare for the coming of my Lord, and Savior. There is SO MUCH to do!! I hardly know where to start. But, I will be happy to share my successes and failures with you as I trudge forward in my weakness and inabilities, my desires and my inspirations; whatever it takes to kneel before Him and confess all of my sincere, however miniscule, efforts.
