We often get reminded to do missionary work.  They say to just hand out a Book of Mormon.  We’ve got to get them out. You can do it.  But how?

Here’s a suggestion:   Volunteer among those who are not members.  Put yourself out there where you can shine some light and cause a little stir, a little interest.

·         Join the PTA – make sure you are there to keep values high in our schools.  If someone says you’re a little different, proudly tell them why.

·         Help regularly at a Social Service organization of your choice – these people actually need all the moral values we can offer them.  Uplifting them with our spirits will bring them happiness.  These people might need a little more hand-holding, but they deserve to hear the gospel as well as anyone.

·         Join neighborhood groups or better yet, start a neighborhood group – book group, quilting group, mom’s group, volunteer group, cooking group, scrapbooking group, etc.  Mingle, and again, spread your light.  When gossipy women get together, the conversation can be manipulated into all kinds of directions.  Have at it!

·         Politics – heaven knows we could use some help in this area. ‘nough said.

We aren’t “in your face” kind of people, but we do know the difference between right and wrong.  There are a lot of good people in the world, who also know the difference between right and wrong, who just might be touched by your example.  We just need to figure out how to get out of our homes, jobs, routines, and get out there and invite something to happen.  We’ll be doing more good than we could ever have thought possible. 

Missionary work isn’t about getting those Book of Mormons out.  It’s about making friendships.  Influencing others for good, inviting the world to enjoy the fullness of what the gospel offers.  Remember what Pres. Hinckley said:   We invite all to bring what they have and add it to what we have.
